Campaign Finance Reform.
Campaigns cost so much money that only the very rich often have any chance, leaving otherwise competent and qualified political talent on the sidelines.
It would be my position to support, by Constitutional Amendment were necessary, the following basic outline.
Using a taxpayer fund legally protected from Congress, fund elections for candidates with an amount calculated based on the demographics of the specific districts.
Donations acceptable for a specified limit only from registered voters who actually reside in the candidate's district.
An exception to the First Amendment to prohibit false statements being publishd in any political ad.
A separate variation should be incorporated to account for primary elections.
The acceptable period for campaigns should also be defined to require a maximum period for campaign activities.
Obvioulsy some finer grained details need fleshed out but the above covers most of our problems with finance of elections.
